Miller Public School had a visitor at Breakfast Club today! It was Em-MOO-ly! She stopped by to have breakfast with all the boys and girls. She ate lots of toast with Vegemite and drank lots of milk!
Breakfast Club is an initiative at Miller Public School with thanks to Food Bank.
Foodbank is a non-denominational, non-profit organisation which acts as a pantry to the charities and community groups who feed the hungry. It was first established in 1992 in NSW and now has a presence in every state and the Northern Territory with distribution centres in all state capitals as well as a number of regional centres. We operate with a staff of approximately 90 employees and over 3,000 volunteers.
Miller Public School has joined the fight against hunger and last year alone, helped many families by providing a before school breakfast program 5 days a week and handing out family food hampers. As a result, Miller Public School re-purposed over 7000kg of food in 2016, which would have ended up in landfill!
The face of hunger in Australia is diverse – it affects males, females, children, the elderly, single people and families, students and the unemployed. It is Miller Public School’s mission to ensure that our students and their families are supported in any way that we can assist.
We’ve created a link between the Archibull Prize Competiton theme for 2017 and Miller Public School’s mission … FEEDING, CLOTHING AND POWERING A HUNGRY NATION IS A SHARED RESPONSIBILITY!
