Hi my name is Hayley and I’m here with my friends Zoey and Chelsea. We are part of the Archibull Prize team for 2017! We have been researching about climate change. Climate change is about the weather and the earth. Here’s some information about climate change that we found interesting when we were researching. The Earth’s climate is what you get when you combine all the climates around the world together. The Earth’s climate is always changing. The difference between weather and climate is that weather consists of the short term [minutes to months] changes in the atmosphere. The greenhouse effect refers to the way the earth’s atmosphere traps some of the energy from the sun. Climate is usually  defined as the average weather in a place.

During our after school Archi meetings, we watched this Youtube clip…

We were lucky enough to have Laura Phelps come out to our school and chat to us about some of the wonderful things that the Australian Pork Foundation are doing to help our environment. Here are a few things that we learnt about…

1. Pigs need the same temperature to survive. If the climate changes or the weather patterns change then pigs might not survive. So farmers need to make sure that they do all they can to make sure that the climate doesn’t drastically change.

2. pig farmers are trying their best to make sure that their farms do not disrupt the climate so it doesn’t have an effect on everything else in our environment. So the Australian Pork Foundation are very passionate about Renewable Energy – methane gas, Greenhouse Gases and Environmental Sustainability.
